The Children's Eternal Rainforest, managed by the Monteverde Conservation League, spans over 22,000 hectares (54,363 acres) and stands as a testament to global conservation efforts initiated by children worldwide. Established in 1987, it has grown to become the largest private reserve in Costa Rica and Central America, playing a crucial role in preserving the region's rich biodiversity.

Your adventure begins with a scenic 1-hour drive in a 4x4 vehicle through mountainous terrains, leading to the Pocosol Station—a scientific research center nestled beside a volcanic lagoon at an elevation of 1,100 meters. From here, you'll embark on a 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) trail, spending approximately three hours exploring the primary forest. Highlights of the hike include witnessing volcanic fumaroles, marveling at the 50-meter (165-foot) Pocosol Waterfall from a dedicated viewpoint, and observing the rich flora and fauna that inhabit the area. With some luck, you might encounter local wildlife such as peccaries, coatis, agoutis, howler monkeys, and a variety of bird species.

Restrictions: This is considered a moderate hike. You should be in good physical condition. We do not recommend this tour for senior citizens, those with mobility issues, or younger children.

Your entrance fee goes towards the conservation project to keep the rainforest safe so your children, and your children's children will have the opportunity to visit it for....well eternity.
