We´ll start our day with a scenic 90 minute drive from La Fortuna through the local banana, yucca and papaya plantations, and on to the Cano Negro Wildlife Preserve which is part of RAMSAR,an international coalition to protect wetlands around the world. This unique destination in Costa Rica is actually on the border of Nicaragua. Stopping at a local restaurant, we´ll take a little time to stretch our legs and have a snack before continuing our travels.

Soon we´ll board our individual inflatable rafts fitted with specially designed eco-friendly motors, and set off for another world entirely. The river is wide and slow flowing, which creates a peaceful environment in which the trees come alive with Capuchin and Arana monkeys, where iguanas and Jesus Christ lizards sun themselves on rocks just feet from your boat, and cormorants dry their wings after feasting on fresh sushi takeout from the Rio Frio.
