Children: Minimum age is 8 years old, however smaller children may not be able to participate in the river tubing. The guides will decide based on their size and the condition of the river on the day of. An adult would need to stay behind with the child as well. For that reason we recommend this tour for children 10 years and up. Children ages 8 to 11 pay a discounted rate.
Restrictions: No prior horseback experience is necessary. Our horses are calm and well trained for tourists of all skill levels. However, we do have weight limit of 118 kg (260 lbs.) for the safety of the horses. Also, if you have a back injury or chronic back pain, adventure sports such as the river tubing, zip lines & rappelling are not recommended. Adventure sports require you to be in good physical condition to participate. The river tubing can be especially strenuous when the river is running high.
Insider Tip: You really should get out of your resort town and spend a day in the mountains. The Hacienda Guachipelin is absolutely stunning with the backdrop of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. So many fun things to do in one place too. This is one of the best deals around! However, we also think the river tubing activity is better suited for those who are strong swimmers or having previous tubing experience. The canyon is amazing, but the river runs pretty fast in rainy season. But this is also why you should opt for professional pics, such great shots!!
