Departures: The cloud forest hiking trails are open daily from 8am to 5pm. You will want to allow for at least 2 hours to explore the trails, so we recommend arriving no later than 3pm. Finca Modelo is located between 5 and 20 minutes drive from most Santa Elena and Monteverde hotels. Exact meeting instructions will be provided on your confirmation voucher.
Length: There are 3 different trails to explore, so we recommend allowing at least 2 to 3 hours exploring the cloud forest. This all depends on your walking pace and the size of your group.

- * Quick-dry lightweight clothes that can get wet
- * Sturdy secure tennis shoes or light hiking boots
- * Rain poncho
- * Towel and change of clothes for after the hike if you wish

- * Camera (waterproof if possible)
- * Cash for tour balance, souvenirs, tips & food at the delicious restaurant on site
Children: The minimum suggested age for these cloud forest hiking trails is 6 years old. The terrain can be a bit challenging for smaller children.
Restrictions: You must be in good physical condition to hike the cloud forest trails on your own. The cloud forest can be very muddy and slippery, so it is important that you wear proper shoes to avoid slipping and falling.

The Brenes Family's private reserve shares all the same flora and fauna with both the Santa Elena and Monteverde Cloud Forest reserves, but with a very limited number of visitors. Also, bring along some extra cash to hit up the restaurant after. Most of the ingredients are sourced right on site of their organic farm...YUMMY!
