Departures: Departs 2 times Monday-Friday at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm and Saturday only at 9:00 am from the tour departure point in Playa Cocles, just 10 minutes South of Puerto Viejo. Exact meeting instructions will be provided on your confirmation voucher sent via email. Round trip transportation from most Puerto Viejo Hotels available at an additional cost. Children: This is the best horseback riding tour in Puerto Viejo for families. Minimum age to participate is 5 years old. Children ages 5 to 10 pay a discounted rate.
Restrictions: All ages welcome as this is a short ride. However, keep in mind you need to be able to mount, dismount the horses with minimal assistance. Horseback riding can be uncomfortable for those with back or hip problems. Pregnant women are not able to participate. For the safety and comfort of our horses, the maximum weight for our larger horses is 100 kgs (215 lbs.). Swimming with the horses has a maximum weight limit of 90 kgs (200 lbs). To ensure we have the best horse ready for you, we ask that you provide your height, approximate weight, and your previous horseback riding experience in the special instructions box.
Important Policy Note: Caribe Horse Riding Club depends on donations and tour sales in order to keep their horse refuge & rehabilitation project operational. They also limit the number of horses they will use per day for the health of the horses. Spaces are very limited and book well in advance, so they cannot afford to lose out on last minute cancellations. That said, they have strict cancellation policy that requires full payment a minimum of 1 week prior, and no cancellations within one week as well. This supersedes our regular cancellation policies. Upon booking you agree to this cancellation policy. If you are looking to book a tour within the next few days, please contact us first to confirm spacing available. Pricing is based on a minimum of 2 people and taxes are not included in the balance paid to the provider.
Insider Tip: If you are new to horseback riding, or just want a taste of riding on the beach, this is the perfect choice. This is also our favorite for families. The 1.5 hour ride seems to be the perfect amount of riding time for younger attention spans and older hips. And yes, opt to add on the swimming with horses!! You will not regret it.
