Cahuita Snorkeling, Hiking + Sloth Sanctuary Recommendations:
- * Comfortable secure sport sandals or shoes for hiking you can get wet
- * Swimsuit on under your clothes
- * Light layered clothing
- * Towel
- * Eco-friendly sun block or UV protective clothing for sun protection

- * Camera (waterproof is best)

- * Cash for tour balance (if not prepaid), tips for your guides, souvenirs or extra food and beverages
Children: Minimum age to participate is 5 years old. Children pay same as adults.
Restrictions: It is recommended you know how to swim to participate in the snorkeling portion. Life preservers will be provided and it is mandatory to have them with you at all times while snorkeling Cahuita National Park.
During the rainy season, the conditions may not allow for snorkeling. In this case we generally still take the boat ride to Cahuita Point and take a bit longer hike back instead.
Insider tip: While sloths look extremely cuddly and like they are always wanting to snuggle, research has found that being handled by strangers is acutely stressful for them. You will get to meet the sloths up close and personal, but please do not attempt to touch or hold them. Important Note: Due to the logistics of this operation, this provider requests payment in advance 72 hours prior. Discounted pricing is for clients paying cash in advance at tour offices in Puerto Viejo. A credit card authorization for the balance will be requested to hold the reservation. If you do not make the cash payment prior to the tour, your credit card will be processed for the remaining balance plus a small processing fee on the day of the tour. Complete instructions will be provided on your confirmation voucher.
Important Note About Snorkeling in Puerto Viejo: When the weather is perfect, snorkeling Costa Rica's Caribbean coast is a dream come true you do not want to miss out on. When it is raining however, the water tends to get murky and muddy and is really not recommended. We recommend you contact us 3 to 5 days before you plan to snorkel so we can check conditions and recommend which snorkeling excursions will or will not work for you.
