Children: If your kids want to surf, we are happy to teach them!! However this is a longer day for the really young ones. For kids 5 and under we would recommend surfing lessons on the beach in Manuel Antonio. But if you want to bring the family, we offer boogie boards too so even those who are not skilled surfers can have a blast in the water. Matapalo is a great beach for beginners too as it more remote so less crowded.
Restrictions: No prior surfing experience required, however surfing is an athletic sport, so you need to be in good physical condition and know how to swim. This tour operates with a minimum of 5 and maximum of 9 persons. If you are traveling solo or just a couple, you can still do this tour if you book the Private option.
Insider tip: This is a great beach to explore if you want to escape the tourist destination of Manuel Antonio. And who can say no to a beach lined with hammocks and great surf? Not us!!

Make it Private!! If it is your first time surfing and want one on one attention for the best experience surfing in Costa Rica, we recommend selecting the box to make it private for only $20 more. If you are traveling solo or just a couple, you may need to book the private option as there is a minimum of 4 people to operate this tour.
